Hello everyone,

Does this mean that they have resumed normal treatment?

Is there a way now to request a travel document without an "urgent reason"?

The easiest way? ... Please help me.

Suppose I am sending by canada post now a normal request in a registered mail, what can happen?

It will be returned? , just ignored? , or a chance that it is treated? ... What do you think? Thank you.

Canadian passports have resumed normally ... It's really depressing the current situation ... Unless we have an extreme emergency, we're like stateless people now. Amazing!

According to their website only urgent TRT applications are accapted. Since there are poeople who have received their RTD without urgent reason, you can try your chance.

Guys, do you have positive experience with sending COPR instead of PR as proof of status to get the 5 years validity for the RTD ?

It doesn't work.

I sent in my COPR and 2 months later I received a letter saying that only the PR or NOD are accepted documents.

Even though I have the COPR while waiting for my PR card, I sent in the NOD to get my application approved. They gave me an rtd of 2 years instead of 5 years.

Really? I think I was a wishful thinker. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I got my RTD with an urgent reason. They don't ask for any proof of urgent travel. Just mail your application to this address:

Certificate of Identity
OSC PPT-COI
PO BOX 8783 STN T CSC
Ottawa, Canada, K1G 5G8

Then go to this link:
https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

And tell them that you have already mailed your application (mention the tracking number) and explain why you need to travel urgently. Also mention the country of your destination and exact dates of travel. Submit the request and wait for their email.
Good luck.
