Could you please guide me on where you got the guarantor form and how much you paid the lawyer?
Go to service Canada and tell them you don't have a guarantor and need to apply for a RTD. You'll fill in the form and take it to a person who can take commission of oath or lawyer. Look around as prices varies.

Oct 2024 - submitted application
November 2024- Called and they said I need new guarantor . I didn't have one so, I used the form from service Canada and got a lawyer to sign it. I sent a new application same day with UPS.
20 November 2024 - Called and they said I need new references , must submit via email provided. I did same day and they fragged application as urgent.
6 December 2024- Called and they said application is in progress, within standard time.
13 December 2024 - Called and they said , waiting for approval.
18 December 2024 - Called and application was approved, CP tracking number provided.
27 December 2024 - Can finally track the application as sent from Ottawa.
30 December 2024 - RTD delivered.

Missed my travel plans but I'm happy to finally get my new RTD with new design. Also, I got my old RTD back as it has US visa.
Congratulations,

When did IRCC shipped out the RTD?

They said that they shipped mine out on December 10th but still I'm not able to track it because they didn't give me any tracking number.

Please which 2 identification did you submit.
What did you put as a reason why you were not able to obtain a guarantor.

Does anyone know if we can go to the US for one day by car with RTD expiring in 3 months? We have a valid US visa.

Unfortunately, I don't think. Visitors traveling to the U.S. are required to be in possession of RTD/passport that are valid for six months beyond the period of their intended stay in the U.S. More information is here -

Exception countries doesn't apply for RTD holders, but for country passport holders. I tried to travel to US last week for Christmas, assuming the exception applies, but was denied boarding because my RTD was valid only for 4 month.

hi
I am a protected person in Canada. I received my RTD but yet still waiting for my PR. I want to travel to Cuba in a month or so and I booked my vacation with AirTransat. I emailed the Cuban embassy to see if I need a visa or not but still waiting for an answer. I wanted to know if anyone has used AirTransat for their booking and how was their experience boarding and coming back?

My case was a little different. I applied for these documents in June, 2022. And send soo many web forms to them. I got my PR card also during this process so they sent me a letter in Aug 2023 after 1 year that they want me to send a copy of the PR card to them signed by my guarantee. Which I sent in aug and then again I put soo many webforms and called them so many times and all the time they just told me that my file was in processing and marked urgent as I put req for urgent. But then when I called them on 3 Jan they told me that they still hadn't received my copy of the PR card which I sent back in aug I even gave them tracking too but they told me to send it again as they lost that mail somewhere and not able to locate it. So I sent that back but I also contacted with MP of my area and told them all the story and she put inquire and request them to send these documents as I really need to travel. After that within 20 days I got my passport tracking and got my passport in Feb finally after 1.5 years of waiting and soo many webforms and calls. I will suggest to talk with your MP and tell them to follow up on your file that really works.

Our story is a little funny and interesting about the RTD application.

I applied for an RTD for my wife for the first time in August 2023. After two months, in October 2023, the processing team sent a letter requesting another set of photos attested by a guarantor. We promptly sent the new set of photos with fresh attestation in October 2023. Despite numerous follow-ups until December 2023, the same response was given: "Your application is under process, and no decision has been made yet." We were advised to wait.

In January 2024, we resumed follow-ups, only to be told that the new set of photos had not been received. We were asked to submit another set of photos, again attested by a guarantor. This was the second time we sent new documents, though it was actually the third submission, including the original application.

Then in March 2024, we received another letter stating that the photos were still inappropriate and that we needed to submit yet another set of photos—this time without attestation. For the fourth time, we sent a new set of photos in March 2024.

By June 2024, we restarted follow-ups, and until August 2024—an entire year since the initial application—we received no updates other than being told to wait. Around this time, the processing team attempted to contact our guarantor for verification. Unfortunately, as our guarantor is a practicing barrister lawyer, he was unavailable to answer their call at that moment.

Upon further follow-up, the RTD processing team informed us that they had attempted to verify the guarantor's signature but had not received a response. They provided me with an email address and asked us to request the guarantor to send an email for verification. The guarantor complied and sent an email, copying us as well.

In October 2024, after another follow-up, we were told to submit all documents once again, including new forms and photos, because the guarantor's signature did not match his other attested documents. The processing team advised that they would send back the full set of documents by mail, allowing us to reapply as a new application without paying a new fee. However, due to the Canada Post strike, this set of documents has yet to arrive as of today, January 2025.

Out of necessity, we reapplied in January 2025 with a new guarantor and paid a new application fee. Our previous application remains open in the system, and we have detailed this entire story in our new application.
