Refugee to Spousal Sponsor

I currently have a PR card under refugee status. I am married to a Canadian woman 2.5 years. I want to have spousal sponsorship. What risk do I face doing this and when can I cancel my refugee claim?

If you already have a PR card through a refugee claim there is really no way to change this to spousal sponsorship at this point. It's too late to cancel your refugee claim if you already have PR.

but like why though , isn't it the same pr? why don't you want it to be associated with a refugee claim?

You are likely getting confused with people applying for spousal sponsorship before being accepted as a protected person. Some are even sponsored by their spouse after getting protected person status but they still retain their protected person status even if they are then sponsored by their Canadian spouse.

Then renounce your protected person status and leave Canada. Then you can apply to be sponsored if you no longer want be a protected person. Your ability to be in Canada and to work in Canada is tied to your approval as a protected person.

It doesnt work like that, either renounce your protected status and leave or wait until you become a Canadian Citizen.

These are different situations. The examples you have read about on the forum are where people get PR through spousal sponsorship BEFORE their refugee application is finalized. This isn't your situation. It's too late for you to do this. You cannot change your status. As others have said, once you have Canadian citizenship you will be free to travel to your home county.

This isn't going to be possible in the next couple of years.

You will have to wait until you have Canadian citizenship to return to your home county.

Well refugee status isn’t like buying a pair of shoes , using them , not liking how they fit abd returning them

My son is only 7 years old and I divorced with his mother, it makes more sense for him to stay with his mother.

Until you become a Canadian citizen, the only option you will have is to meet up with your son in a third country (not your home county). If you return to your home county before citizenship, you will place yourself at risk of cessation, which means having your PR status cancelled.

Hi ,My refugee status and pr is revoked by ircc after that i got inland spousal sponsorship the question is can visit back home without any trouble ?
