Hey everyone, I've been asking many lawyers about my current situation and each lawyer gave me different answer, PLEASE I need your help, I'll explain my situation :
when I came to Canada I came as an international student, then I had to extend my study permit,I submitted an application for extending my study permit, while I was waiting to receive my new study permit, I submitted a refugee claim during Covid-19, and in the same month I received my new study permit ( At the bottom of my study permit under remarks it says - does not confer a status ),
Regarding to my refugee claim I only received the acknowledgment letter , nothing else, I never been called for the eligibility interview and I still have my passport with me ) ,
now I want to withdraw from refugee claim, and to continue my studies,
I'm concerned about what's going to happen when I withdraw, what is my status going to be after withdrawing from refugee claim ( withdrawing before the eligibility interview ) ? would there be any consequences if I withdraw now ?
Will I still be able to finish my studies and continue with my study permit ( my study permit expiry date is still valid) ?

Please I need your advice
I truly appreciate your help

When you withdraw your claim, it’s very likely you will be subject to a removal order from Canada. If you don’t leave by a specific date, the removal order will become a deportation order.

Would suggest speaking to a decent immigration lawyer. Your case became much more complicated. They’ll need to review your asylum case and whether you have a chance at success. Was there a reason you applied for asylum versus waiting to get your study permit extension? I also wonder whether the study permit will remain valid if it was given without knowledge that you had just applied for asylum.

Basically you’ve shown your hand to the IRCC and that you’ll do anything to stay in Canada , up to claiming asylum
