Got my Aoc and eligibility interview is scheduled for May 2023
I have heard that the refugees cases are expidted in Alberta in terms of hearing, eligibility interivew and all.

No applications aren’t expedited if you live in Alberta. There is a chance that you may get an eligibility appointment earlier but that isn’t guaranteed. The waits tend to be longer in locations where there are more refugees like Montreal.

It’s really disappointed and difficult waiting one year for eligibility interview without even work permit
I hope they will finish from their backlogs and expedite all our applications

Unfortunately I don’t think there is a chance that the backlogs are going to be fixed or the applications will be expedited. If anything wait times are likely to increase as more people apply for asylum. Applying fir asylum is a very difficult and long process. If people have any other option they should apply for another immigration program.

in alberta there are less claims made so yes it is a little faster but that is not guranteed

But they also don't have exactly same number of members/admin staff like other provinces, say BC. In my opinion, In Canada Refugee applications are not priority provided asylum seeker is here

yes, they don't have much staff either, but when I talk to lawyers or consultants they say Alberta is a little fast because people don't claim asylum that much here. He said its simple the first entry point is usually is Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver and when they arrive most of them deicide to make the claim where they land or cross border

I don't think so, my Refuge claim took me 6 months in Montreal. But when I filed my PR at first it was progressing until my file was sent down to Edmonton because I live here and since then the progress is slow in fact the last update was 2021.

PR is federal so moving should not speed up the process.
