Hello,

I received today my landing interview for my common in law sponsorship.
its on April 12 . They 're requesting my identification document , but my passport has been seized by immigration in 2010.

has anyone gone thru this?

This happened to my husband as well. You will receive your passport back at your interview. As an added precaution, he took along the seizure paper and stamped paper copies they made of his passport when they took it. Also, he took some identification cards he had before he entered Canada, but I'm not sure if he needed to show them. If you have something like this, you can bring it, but if not, it shouldn't be a big deal. Hope this helps!

Thank You for the reply , Im so hoping this applies to me as well. I will bring ALL dcuments ive gotlol. what worries me its that on the letter they ask me to bring the original passport or travel document O.o . I called CIC and they told me to bring all the documents Ive got as you said, but i was not quite satisfied with the agent , i kinda felt like he didnt know what I was talking about :S

I wanted to ask you aswell if you're husband had to withdraw his case and refugee when he got PR or the PR automatically ends everything. Sorry I know I shoulda taken a consultant but believe me I didnt find any reliable one, and I did look for one. :( Thank You

You did the right thing coming here, the compiled knowledge on this site is better than any consultant.

You do not have to worry about your passport. It will be returned to you at your landing interview. Just to ease your mind, bring the stamped paper with the photocopy of your passport along with the seizure receipt to the interview.

You will not be withdrawing your case. As soon as you finish your interview you are automatically changed from a refugee to a PR. It is a very simple process. Basically they ask you to verify information such as the spelling of your name, date of birth, address, etc. They are very helpful, and will help you with getting your permanent SIN, updating medical, etc.

I was at the same situation too, don't worry, just send all the applications, photos, letters from your friends and family to prove that your marriage is true. A little advice here - the more pictures and letter you send - the better. Also if you guys travelled together (even whithin Canada) send them the pictures from those trips.

Hi, I m on similar situation ,I'm a rejected refugge
I apply under spousal sponsorship application in august 2010 they transfer my file to the cic local office Calgary
Without AIP last year June 2011 ,and they send me a letter ,they gonna review my case in June 2012 ,and they told me they may call me for interview, that's it my application still in procces until now ..

I don't know what's the next step?

Valeco, you have been waiting for almost 2 years???? Have they told you why the delay is so long? I was curious as my husband was on refugee and was denied and sent back home and we are applying now and I really hope I don't have to wait 2 years for him to come back to me. I will go crazy LOL

Hi
The cic local office send me a letter,it says the may call me for interview that's it .
I call the cic call center they told me the same thing , I still in procces and they gonna start working on my application June 2012 I hope they call me soon.
So your Husban was a refugee in Canada and he get refused like me and after that he went back home and now he is applying outside Canada spousal application ?
I know applications outside Canada are taking only 6 to 12 months

Yes we are applying outside of Canada and I applied Feb 27th, they received Feb 29th and I still have not gotten approval or anything, been 106 days now. I know the 2nd step of the process is going to take a long time but I am hoping not 2 years that is for sure.
