Definitely call Legal Aid. If you are in Ontario, the toll-free number is 1 800 668-8258. They have been closed since Dec 23, but they re-open tomorrow morning (Wed Dec 28). I know someone in similar circumstances although from a different African country. She was supposed to have her hearing in early December, but it got postponed.

What?? I didn't even know they could 'deny' cases! Did they explain why? I was under the impression they provided legal help to everyone who can't afford it.

Good evening everyone I had my refugee hearing rejected because the board member who was asking question didn't find any credibility to my claim not enough evidence to his satisfaction he said I am going to receive something in the mail in 2 weeks don't know what that is I was confused and am still confused don't know what next to do, is there anything I can do at this point. What of if I get a job and a company is willing to sponsor me lmia is that possible

Thanks I found one just waiting for the mail, although am curious why there was no one else in the hearing room apart from him and I, I feel if there was another member that would have helped in judging oh is it okay for only one member to here my claim from the board?

If you had a lawyer there would hve been one person and if u needed translator add one more...
But yes, member takes decision alone. Lawyer could qoute to consider accordin to law section
