Hello Members,

I received below email from IRB and my claim was submitted in June 2024 and passport seizure and work permit was issued in July 2024. Is it normal to receive the below email like this?

This letter contains important information on services available to newcomers here in Canada.
Did you know that the following Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) services are available to refugee claimants (asylum seekers) to support them with:

  • obtaining important documentation
  • preparing for and finding employment
  • identifying benefits that they may be eligible to apply for
Get your Social Insurance Number
To work in Canada, you need a work permit and a Social Insurance Number (SIN). You can apply, update or obtain a SIN confirmation online, upload your digital documents securely and, if eligible, view your SIN on My Service Canada Account (MSCA) once your application has been processed.

There is no fee to apply for your SIN.

Find a job in Canada
