Some people who have been identified as less complex cases with very high chances of approval can be approved without hearing typically like your case in the days before the hearing. That is still a small minority of asylum cases in Canada. Many still have a short hearing and some still have a full hearing. The system was put in place to try to process cases with high chances of approval more efficiently and reduce costs. Even the system for less complex cases that have expedited processing has become overwhelmed and processing times have increased.
