My friend and her family visited Canada in 2019 and due to some problem happened for them they apply for refugee in Canada in last day of 2019. They received the stamp copy of their document as well as their work permit in Jan 2020 but since that no updates.

any one who applied in 2019 or 2020 to share their timeline? any one called for hearing however i think immigration is still close in Canada.

Thank you.

Hearings have been paused over the last few months due to COVID-19. However there are signs they may be resuming again soon.

It takes around 1.5 to 2 years to have a hearing after claiming refugee status. So your friend and family likely have another year or so to wait.

I applied to Asylum the same day like you. Hearing was paused because of Covis but they are resuming it on 20 July in Britsh Columbia and on 3 Aug for the rest of offices in Canada. Priority would be given to those who had their hearing appointments canceled. Here is the link for more details.
