Hello folks,

After i lost my first hearing i appealed to Refugee Appeal Division and recently got denied.

Because of some circumstances (family related) i want to go home asap, does someone knows how is the process of going back, and how long does it take?

Best Regards.

There's a bit of a process you need to go through with CBSA and they'll need to come with you to the airport to make sure you have left. But if you really need to leave urgently right now, then just apply for an urgent passport from you country of citizenship's embassy and leave. If you want you can inform CBSA at the airport that you got a new travel document and that you need to travel urgently before leaving just as a gesture of good will.

How long does it take? One week, two? I want to buy the plane ticket. If i buy a ticket and show them, will they process it faster?

I'm not really sure maybe someone who has been through this process can help you more. All I know is that if you have to leave urgently and can't wait anymore, you can get a passport from your embassy and go straight to the airport and leave.

All you ever need to leave Canada is a valid Travel Document (TD), any necessary visa(s) and an airline ticket.

You can go to the CBSA office at the airport and inform them (unless you have a warrant for your arrest you should be fine) and they ought to confirm and record your departure. You could choose not to inform them but if you ever plan to return you'll face some hurdles because they will likely issue a warrant for your arrest if they think that you are still in Canada and living underground.

If the CBSA has your only source for a valid TD then you'll be working on their timeline to facilitate your departure as they'll want to witness you leaving. They may not share your sense of urgency, but you're a removal statistic so they should respond sooner rather than later.

The CBSA has my passport, so that's what i need. I can arrange the ticket myself. Actually based on the departure letter i have 15 days to leave the country.

I know that they don't hand the passport on hand, they just make sure you depart Canada for good.

Sorry to hear that.

Process is simple to contact CBSA / IRCC to update them about your travel plan voluntarily and they will arrange your passports according to your travel date at airport.

Woul you like to share your timeline of claim and appeal, how long it took?
