Hi All,

I have one question regarding the reference letter. My manager who has signed my ref. letter will be going back to India in couple of months(My company HR is not providing the letter). In the letter, I have mentioned his Canada cell number and his official E-mail ID.

I am planning to submit the application in April. What should be the right approach (Right now He is not having the Indian cell number)? Please suggest.

All good. You can update CIC later on when his contact information changes.

Please be careful about changing any contact information to other than Canada. As far as I know and since this is Canadian Experience class, its better to give Canada contact information. Giving Indian cell # might trigger suspicion.

Why is HR not providing the reference letter? You can tell HR it's an immigration requirement and send the relevant document (the checklist document) and ask them to follow the directions provided there.

We need to provide reference letter from canadian employer. I assume your manager is not a permanent employee and will be abck once assignment is over. The letter might not be acceptable. Recommendation is to provide letter from canada HR or a letter from client side will also work.

So the company I work in are not going to provide reference letter. And after lot of persuasion I got the letter from my manager.
Will there be a issue is he goes back and I provide his indian cell number.

I have reviewed the checklist and I haven't seen any clause stating that Manager should be a PR holder or resident of canada .

Also, Will client letter gonna help ? I can get the letter but it won't be in the client's letterhead.

Hello Tesmy,

Agreed there is no mention / clause that the manager should be of Canada. However its risky !! think from a VO perspective if he wants to verify your case he may not call to Indian number and it adds to suspicious that you got the letter from India.

My suggestion try to get a letter from any other Canadian manager, that way you are free of worries.

Good luck.

I presume you were sent to Canada on some project? We all need to understand that each case is different and that a Visa officer is well aware of this. I don't see how it matters if your manager is in Canada or not. The criteria is that you worked in Canada in an employer-employee based relationship and it is up to you to prove this. You can prove this by submitting T4, NOAs, copies of work contracts, pay stubs, etc. Hence it is up to you to prove that you have gained the required Canadian work experience and you have gained it on an authorized work permit. It will help if your reference letter has the required information to strengthen your case.
