Hi! I'll be arriving in Canada soon and I have questions:

Is it necessary to present a reference letter at the port of entry aside from the introduction letter, cash/demand drafts and passport?
If so, what should be the content of the reference letter?

Thank you in advance!

letters of reference is the one which u sent to college/university or u could call them recommendation letters....u probably wont need it at POE they will rarely to never ask u for reference letters.
most likely they will just ask for
1) visa
2) passport
3)letter of introduction
4) admission letter
it never hurts to carry all the documents u used for visa application even though they wont ask for them

Re: Reference Letter @ POE

It is the letter you will receive from the embassy once your application has been approved.

SSHana, yes I will share my experience with you guys! Thank you! :)

Re: Reference Letter @ POE

You'll be needing your Letter of Admission, LOI and passport. Other than that, you just have to ready the documents deemed necessary and just provide what the Immigration Officer asks for. Best of luck! :)

Re: Reference Letter @ POE

Oh and I brought my reference letter with me at the POE. The IO didn't ask for it but I still think it was a good call. Just anticipate what the officer might ask you. :)

IMM1346 is the visa counterfoil affixed to the passport when returned from the embassy. It's like a sticker. The latter is a document (student permit)stapled to the passport by the immigration officer at the POE.

I think it's included in the paper-based checklist, I used it for my online application though. I had a friend signed an affidavit-like letter of sponsorship as part of my proof of funding/support.

Re: Reference Letter @ POE

@ mead: ah, I wasn't required to submit any references by my school :) thanks!

@ hopefulangel: if it's the letter for financial support, I do have one but I was issued a visa without having it notarized ;D i'll just bring it along hehe I do have a sister living there but I just declared her current status in Canada as a working student (with a copy of her valid docs), didn't present a Letter of Invitation or anything. thanks!

Re: Reference Letter @ POE

Yep, I didnt have mine notarized too. I just attached his documents as well just to make sure. :-)
