Hi - I have a reference letter that was issued to me in Aug 2011 to help get the Canadian visa stamp. It has the set of roles and responsibilities as per mine NOC code. the question is since the letter is back dated as of Aig 2011 will it be an issue? As my employer wont provide me an employment letter of current date as I have already moved out of Canada.

The letter HAS TO BE dated after gaining the 12 months of experience. If your letter is dated before that, it is as good as useless.
Try to get an updated letter from former supervisors, HR person, etc.

Thanks Tobby. Yeah it is dated after gaining 12 months of exp. I started my tenure from Jan 2010 - so since the letter is dated Aug 2011 I guess it proves more then 12 months of exp. Also I will anyways be submitting 3.8 years of paystubs - so I am good then? sometimes I feel like being slave to employer - you work hard for them and when you ask to issue some letters they give a damn..!!

No, your experience will be counted within 36 months before submission of your applicatio. for instance, if you submitted on 01/01/2014 (does not seem you did already), your experience counted is full year of 2011, 2012 and 2013. the experience gained in 2010 does not count. Therefore, the date on your letter would have to be after 01/01/2011.

Sorry, I meant the date on your letter would have to be after 01/01/2012.

Ok. my letter is dated Aug 2011 but it says that my roles n responsibilities upto Jan 2013 will be as follows. Also it has a statement that I have been in Toronto since 2010. So will that work now - as the employer is not gonna provide with any more reference letter.

As toby and GHD1213 already said, work experience obtained within 36 months prior to the date of application received by CIC will be considered. You need a letter dated after you have obtained 1 year of full-time skilled work experience. Your reference letter only proves that you have about 7 months of work experience if you are going to submit your application this month.
How could a reference letter dated in Aug 2011 prove that you have worked and performed the same duties and responsibilities till Jan 2013?

I have no choice but to submit the same letter. It has statement that I "will" be responsible for some roles and responsibilities. Thanks all.

And anyways to prove my employment I am attaching anyways all the paystubs for the last 3.8 years. Tobby your thoughts on this?

is it okay if I use the same HR letter and get a reference letter from my manager? I am not sure though that the reference letter from manager will be on employer letter head..will that be fine?

Any thoughts members on mine last post?

While filing my application in Dec 2012,I have sent a reference letter that was signed in May 2012 (which is after completion of 24 months of work experience). If you are not getting a Reference letter on Letter head get it attested by an Attorney and add Business card of Person providing you Reference letter.
