Hello All Experts,

I had worked with 4 organisation in total. Out of 4 organizations one I think closed down their business as well. I am facing problem to get "Reference Letter" in case of other 3. They are refusing provide letter. I am in very crunchy situation that one company is closed down and others 3 are providing letter as saying it is not company policy. :(
I really don't understand how to process further. This makes me nervous now, I am totally stuck up and can't do anything now. Experts please guide in this case how can I proceed further ???!!! There must be a way out / solution to this issue ?

Experts guidance will be very much helpful on this.

Regards,
Sharvari Joshi.

Try to get it from your immediate supervisor rather then HR. It will work.

It is very tough to get it from HR.

for the company that is closed now, an explanation letter from you would be needed. If you have any ex-colleagues/supervisors from the place, you may get written testimonials from them stating the same. don't forget to provide CIC with their contact details. Do include your pay slips from the time you were there. The point is, provide evidence that you have indeed worked in that company AND that it is no longer operational.

for the companies that do not provide reference letters as a matter of policy: Can you ask the HR department to issue you 1) a simple reference letter stating that you have worked in this organization as a ____ from ____ to _____ AND 2) that it is the company policy NOT to provide a detailed reference letter?

In addition, ask your present or ex-colleagues (preferably supervisors/line managers) to give written reference letters detailing your work, its nature, pay etc. Again, the point is, provide evidence that you have indeed worked in those companies AND that the HR department does not provide reference letters.

Hello Krunal and S4F,

Really appreciate your replies guys. Thank you.

To get it from colleague do I still need it on "Company Letter Head" As you know India this is very hard to get it "Company official Letter Head". Its really depressing "Why Indian Companies so reluctant and stubborn to provide references, letter, copies of documents". I am really frustrated to follow them.

Thank you both.

Regards,
Sharvari J.

Everything needs to be on letterhead. You have to get it. Tell them a purpose and show them a documents checklist of CIC. Try to convince them. These is how i got it.
