Hello,

I am eligible to apply under the CEC now having 1+ years of work experience in a FT role in NOC 2171 job code (IT).

However, prior to this experience when I was a FT student, I had 3 separate part time positions (administrative, call center, cashier) all legal and on my Off Campus Work Permit. I have no qualms mentioning these in my applications, but finidng it hard to get a proper experience letter with job description on it. Do I need to include those letters or is it ok to just write a cover letter explaining that I am not applying for CEC PR based on these experiences? Or do I just not include them in my applications (The IMM0008 Schedule 8 application).

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

In the guide (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp):

List your occupations within the 3 years preceding the date your application is made starting with your current occupation. List only occupations that fall in Skill Type 0 or Skill Levels A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) code.

You do what it asks you to do.

Provide reference letters & evidence (T4's?). If you can't get the letters, provide an explanation letter.

anand_r,

The guide tells you to only list skilled work (i.e. A, B or 0). If you worked as a cashier, you wouldn't list it in the form because that's not a skilled occupation.

Thanks lithium002! That makes sense, can you advice/confirm if call centre is a skilled job (under an NOC 0, A, B)?
Also I worked as an Administrative Assistant 2 on an off campus work permit, that has an NOC so do I mention that or can I leave it out since it was part-time and on an off-campus work permit?

Thanks all!

I'm not sure. You'll need to check your job titles within the HSRDC database and see where they fit. I believe you have to list all skilled jobs in the last three years that you have held, whether they qualify for the CEC class or not.

Hi, Thanks all for your replies.

The employer's are not readily providing reference letters with job description in it, so I am a little hesitant in mentioning those part-time work on OCWP as it may confuse the Case Officer (experience mentioned, but no reference letter attached).

I am thinking to not mention these at all and submit instead. Is it advisable, will it be seen as a case of not-disclosing full information?

I would highly advise against hiding your work experience. I know you're just trying to make your application easier for the officer, but it will most certainly work against you.

If you don't feel like you will be able to get reference letters with job duties for part-time work that was skilled and done in the last three years, simply attach the reference letters as they are, and also include an addendum explaining that the jobs for which you don't specifically qualify under CEC, you have included as much information as you possibly could get from these employers given they were part-time positions. Also indicate that you have provided exhaustive information for the work experience that you would like them to consider and that actually qualifies for you the CEC application (this would include your contract, pay stubs, the letter, T4s, etc for the job you think they should only consider).

I did the exact same thing just so you know. I received an employment letter from my campus where I worked sporadically, and it indicated my duration, etc. but didn't lost any job duties. I only attached this because it correlated with my personal history. Since it wasn't skilled experience, I didn't include it in the form you mention. I did, however, mention other skilled work I had done (other than the job that I have held for two years that qualifies me for CEC) but attached an addendum saying that they should consider my most recent job, and provided everything I could to support that job. I did include copies of contracts, etc which didn't list any duties for the other skilled work. The thing is, you should give as much information as you possibly can, and explain where you feel the officer might get confused.
