Hi, you must send a new red passport ( a valid passport) to the visa office. They ask to my wife to do it(she is a filipina)and now the visa office have this red passport in hands.
as long as its still valid 18 months when u sent in your application, then it should still be okay.i still have the older red/maroon passport issued in 2009.i applied Sept 2011 and got the visa February.
Although, it is advisable to send in the e-passport.
