Hi, I was wondering if CIC retains the records of past applicants. If yes for how many years and like what kind of data? Thank you

I may be wrong, but I believe they retain immigration files indefinitely. I can't remember where I would have read this.

Re: Records of past applicants

yes they do, i read many cases on the canlii.org website where they do consider past applicants

if they see ur past applicants divorce so soon, they will be highly suspicious

Hi. Thanks for the information. I mean if they keep any records where you have visited Canada as a visitor and so on in the past, Like medical and family records.

I just mailed my application to my husband today. I just realized that I forgot to sign a letter that I wrote to explain why I am unable to produce a police certificate for a particular country with evidence. Is the signature important on letters? What do you suggest? Will it be ok to send in the application without having that letter signed? All other mandatory forms are signed. Thanks

My understanding is that if the letter is included as part of the application, then the signature on the application counts, as long as it's clear that it's from you.

Thanks. I was wondering if I could sign the letter and email him the scanned copy. And does it matter if we handwrite on the forms? Like I made a small correction on one of the forms. Please share if you have any idea on this, I shall really appreciate it. If both the answers are no to my questions then I need to do the necessary changes and mail him ASAP.

I don't know about writing on the forms. A lot of their procedures are automated, so it seems possible this would be a problem. Still, I don't see how else to do things.

If nobody on the forum can answer this question, maybe phone the CIC call centre.
