Record of past visas....

Hello everyone...have done a search but been unable to get a clear answer on this.

I hope someone can help.

I had a Canadian student visa for a few years, I finished university in Canada, and graduated.

My common law partner is now going to be sponsoring me to come to Canada, for various reasons ( many of my belongings were damaged and lost in storage)
I do not have ANY of my old paperwork, or my old student visa, which I thought would be good to send along with my application.

Is there a quick way for me to request a copy of my old student visa?
I know people request CAIPS for immigration cases that are CURRENTLY in process, but can you request CAIPS or something similar for past immigration cases?

You can request CAIPS or FOSS for any immigration application, old or new. Do you still have your client ID number? CIC can access old visas and permits through that and then you don't need to provide a copy. If you had a VISA, you would have it stamped in your passport. Sounds like you had a study PERMIT. If you've lost the permit, the school you attended may be able to give you a copy as they would have had to keep it on file.

Even if you cannot get a copy of the student visa, CIC will have it in their records. Make sure you mention the visa on Schedule 1 Background / Declaration, question 9. Then provide details below. I couldn't remember the exact month or year my husband applied for a TRV, but I still mentioned that he had, and the approximate date, and CIC included the FOSS printout in his files.
