Hi Guys,

Just wanted to clarify a few things before I enter Canada:

1) Is the only way of getting the Supplementary Applicaton form (IMM 5455) and payment receipt (IMM 5401) is by ordering it for mail delivery which takes 2 weeks? Is there any quicker way of getting it delivered overseas or downloaded?

2) When do we get the Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or Confirmation of PR Form (IMM 5292)? Are these issued at the airport when we enter Canada and then shall be attached with the PR Card Application form (IMM 5445E) before being mailed to the CPC in Sydney?

3) I was reading in the PR card application guide that the applicant needs to be physically present for collection of his PR card. Can we nominate someone else to receive it on our behalf?

Thanks for any inputs!

1)U need to order.

2) When immigrant lands, COPR are termed as Landing papers where IO confirms landing date and fund info. The same form (original
copy) is kept by IO to be used for processing PR card.

3) One can nominate anybody in Canada to receive PR cards. This information needs to be shared with IO at the time of Landing. PR cards are delivered by Canada post and will be left in the drop box of the addressee.

:D, Hi,

I understand you have lot of confusion about many of the IMM forms!!!.
If you are a new immigrant ( I mean if you are going to land first time in Canada with your PR Visa ) then you need not worry about IMM 5455 which is not required.
After sending your passports for visa stamping, it will be returned to you along with the original COPR.
You have to hand over that original COPR to the Immigration Officer at your port of entry in Canada.
After reviewing your COPR together with your passport - and of course some questions to you -, the officer will return a copy of the COPR with his endorsements on it, allowing you to enter Canada as a Permanent Resident.
Until you get your PR card from CIC by ordinary mail, the copy of your COPR is the proof of your landing which shows that you are a landed immigrant in Canada.

Within 6 to 8 weeks you will automatically receive the PR Card in your mail box of given address. Therefore you don't have to submit any sort of application for the PR Card. It is an automatic process in continuation of your landing.
Keep in mind that you should keep the copy of COPR with you till you receive the PR Card from CIC. Please do not send it any where.

Hope you are clear now.

Welcomes you to Canada. wish you a happy landing!!.

Hi Wilson

I read your reply above, clarifying many issues about the IMM forms which is quite confusing.

I have landed on 15 Aug, and at the Immigration checkpoint, done my processing without much issues. As you have noted, the immigration officer told us that we do not need to provide the PR application form as this is an automated process. Also no photographs were taken from us, and no payment.

However, as we do not have an address at landing, we told the officer that the address will be provided online, and they say ok. I subsequently logged onto the CIC site, and entered my new address on 17 Aug. But strangely, when I try to check the address update on the CIC site these few days, the address columns are all blank and there are not old or new addresses indicated. If this is the case, will they be able to mail the PR cards to us? How do I ensure that the address has been updated into the system?

For info, I have applied for the SIN cards too with an address provided at a Service Canada office.

Please advise if I am missing a step or some procedures.

Many thanks
B

Hey 18,

You can always phone CIC at the 1-888 toll free telephone number to confirm if they had the address.
