Hi all,
I recently received my CoPR and I was wondering what the next steps are given the situation with COVID. I sent an online request to CIC as specified in the letter and now I am just waiting for them to reply. I had the following questions, and I was hoping someone would be able to provide some input:
1) I heard the landing was being done via phone interviews? If this is the case, and I'm scheduled for an appointment to go over the details on my CoPR; would it still be okay to flagpole if the border opens before my appointment ( CoPR expires in October)?
2) Proof of Funds - I have a full-time job in Vancouver and when I applied, I demonstrated that I had more than the minimum requirement to be able to immigrate. My family lives in NYC and they are business owners. As you know, COVID hit the city pretty hard and my parents had to close their business and the government provided very little relief. I took a good chunk of my savings and sent them to my parents just to help them out during this crisis, so I no longer have the original amount and it's not close to the minimum amount required.
I know that there is no POF requirement if you have a full-time job (at the time of the application), so if I was to show evidence of this, would this be acceptable? I have been living in Vancouver for over a year now and I got my job after I applied for Express Entry (inland application). I have not needed to apply for CERB or any type of federal assistance as my job has provided a stable source of income. I'm hoping that my job does in fact offset the change in my finances, or is not even considered (as it is during the application process).
3) Please share any other information which may be useful or advice on the best way to go about this.
Thank you!
