I'm a recent graduate in masters in petroleum engineering program of Dalhousie University in Halifax. My status in Canada is international student, I received my post-grad work permit few days back. Its been a month now since I moved to Calgary. I'm actively looking for some potential employers in oil and gas industry specifically in reservoir engineering domain. I recently took some interviews with some employers here it seems though much of employers are uncertain about the entry level job scenario here. I've also made contact with some placement agencies like Roevins, Mitra and Spherion but nobody knows what the next year holds for Calgary.

I intend to get an entry level job in engineering industry and apply for permanent residence too. I'm also in contact with Labor Information Centre in Calgary. At this moment I'm idling futile and giving second thoughts on seeking a future in Canada.

Please advise

P.S. I have acquired my masters degree in Petroleum Engineering with 6 months of work experience in mechanical engineering background and I really don't know if I can get through the nominee program or whatever.

Waqas, Can you please send me your Email address at AbdullahSiddiq089@gmail.com. I really want to talk to you. My name is Abdullah and I am also a Mechanical Engineering graduate.

As you search for work in your field of study, also expand your search to skilled jobs in other science areas. With one year experience, you will be eligible for CEC.
