I'm Canadian and I am applying to sponsor my Japanese wife for permanent residency. We sent all the paperwork in a couple days ago but we will not be at the our mailing address for several weeks, I wonder if they send us something in the mail do we need to sign for it or will it simply be waiting in our mailbox when we arrive? I tried to change the address, but since they haven't started processing our application it's not possible to change the address.
If you have any advice I'd appreciate it.

Thank you

I dont think they'll communicate with you by snail mail until they have either approved or refused your sponsorship application .

If you entered an email address both in your sponsorship application and that of your wife's, they'll most likely use email to communicate with you.

I'd still suggest that you have someone taking care of your mailbox at home if you dont intend to be at your previous address for some time. Once your application reaches a point where you can access your personal information electronically you could change your address there.
