I wouldn't think of the form as a delay, since the form is telling you very clearly what they need for your application to move forward. It's a good sign. Of course it would have been better to have sent the docs with the RQ, but the RQ is pretty crazy in its requirements, so personally I understand that we've got to just do our best to send what we can.

Since you've got a physical presence shortfall, yes, I think you may see a judge (though the judge procedure is a little wonky now due to the new citizenship bill, so it's in flux). Anyone with a shortfall is going to face a lot of scrutiny in getting citizenship, especially since the new citizenship bill clarifies that " residence" means physical presence.

Good luck.

I was under the impression that the interview is done after the test is taken. Is that correct? In the soniasmith's scenario, the interview was done before the test.

@ soniasmith

what was the reason for you to apply short of 1095 days? Did you do some miscalculation or what exactly happened?
Not any miscalculation. I just wanted to apply with the rest of my family (who were on time) and that's why I applied a bit early.

Thank you for your clear answer.

Yep, it's always before the test.

Hmmm interesting.. As far as i read in this forum, the interview is done after the test and that's how the interviewer tells about the test results too.
Maybe it's different in each province or city?
But in my case, I just took the test and gave it to the supervisor and she told me the result right away.

the benefit of the CIT 0520, and the reason why it's way better than an RQ is that they tell you specifically what they want. What they're looking for in order to assess. Rather than the RQ where you need to throw everything you can get your hands on plus the kitchen sink and hope one of them is the document that they want to see.

So yeah. Send the docs ASAP. There's a link to health record requests in my blog link signature.

Had you sent all this stuff with the RQ originally?
Same situation. Gave and passed test last week and got the CIT 520 today. Reason: they found one Canada entry missing in my form which was a day trip to US. This is ridiculous considering CIC specifically said not to include any day trip. Luckily there is stamp from US side for that day. Hopefully it won't take long since it came from Scarborough.

That's rodiculous.... I think the residence calculator doesn't even accept day trips which would result in an absence of 0 days!!! It seems these folks at CIC hand out CIT-0520 randomly without any reasonable/logical grounds! This is frustrating!

Well in CIC defense they won't know the exit date only the entry date. I think residency form should include option for day trip as well and make it absence 0 days to avoid confusion.

Hello, I am in a similar situation and I also applied in October 2011 and last week I received CIT520 in the mail. They asked me to provide the following:

1. Passport photocopies
2. Leases
3. Tax Assessments
4. Health Claims records
5. A letter explaining my previous status in the U.S

I just feel like they are wasting our time as most of this information was already provided in the 1st RQ. I think for folks like us whose applications have passed the 36 months, we should put the pressure on CIC to fanalize them or take legal actions, this is becoming ridiculous.

Yes that's true.
I actually used your blog and it was very helpful so thank you! :)
I'll be sending the documents to CIC in a week.

No, I never sent my health records or copies of my passports with the first RQ but I did tell them the dates I was out of the country.

Do you know if receiving this form delays my application?
And if a judge might want to see me?

I totally agree with you.
But how can we put pressure on CIC!! You cant find a decent person in CIC who can answer your questions properly and actually help you!!

So, you are saying that your entry stamp for usa exists but your canada entry stamp or CBSA entry is missing correct?

Is it the canada entry stamp or CBSA electronic entry or both?

How did the CIC officer notice this? Did the CIC officer matched the stamps with your residency calculator or he checked the stamps with CBSA report? Did he have the CBSA report?
