Received work permit for self but visitor visa for spouse - should I apply for her OWP separately ??? Urgent advise requested?? Can we get it at the POE also? I am in India under the occupation list. Thanks

Hi shailjavineet

How did you apply for your work permit and what type of work permit is it? Are you under the Federal Skilled Workers permit, A temporary work permit, or Open work permit?

When you say your under the occupation list, you mean your skill set comes under the NOC?

Typically CIC won't give the spouse OWP until you have started working. You can carry all the needed proofs to the POE and try, but I think they will want you to assume your new job first. Maybe you will get lucky, but usually you have to start working.

I was selected for PNP and thn Work Permit - I did not apply for her separately thinking that she will be given a work permit too :( I have now applied for her work permit. Since she has aleardy gone through medicals how much time do u guys thing it will take for her? They took 4 months for my work permit but that includes a medical also. Now she has a visitor visa and I have a permit.
