Received sponsorship but visa expired

Hello,

I have sponsored my wife from Pakistan and she received her visa on her passport. Due to
Unexpected circumstances we have decided to move back to Pakistan. How should I go about this situation? Will cic refund me any amount? Do I need to provide them with and explanation? Will this effect future decisions they make with regards to our reapplying?
