My wife lives with me in Canada, she received her PR acception letter and Passport (chinese). Do we have to cross the border to complete the process or can we do it within Canada (edmonton). If we have to cross, can we go across from any US border? I heard since June 2012 you have to make an appointment.

1. If you want to "land" inland and her status is valid, she can phone the call centre and make an appointment for CIC edmonton (6-8 weeks)
2. Or She can go to the US/Canadian border, get an administrative rejection from the US and then return to the Canadian side and "land" No appointment.

Both ways would work. I think the fastest way is to cross the border , make a u turn and land as a permenant resident. That's how I got mine done.

When u say, make a u turn, do we need to enter the US check post ?
