Received passport request. Will I be able to defer now?

I received a request to submit my passport yesterday. My intake is Jan 2021 but I want to defer to May 2021. Will be able to defer now and send the new LOA to IRCC through webform and so that I can get the study permit for May instead of Jan? Can i submit the new LOA before the 30 days deadline or will I get permit only for Jan intake no matter what?

(My intake was originally for May 2020 but I've deferred to Jan 2021 since then)
Application on 17th March
Biometric and Medical the following week
Received AIP in August
Received passport request and biometric validity yesterday (Did not get any instruction letter though)
