Folks,

I received an ITA yesterday. I live in the US and I am trying to schedule a medical exam. I have scheduled an upfront medical examination where I will be given a form after the exam which I can upload.

What is confusing to me is when I am calling medical centers a lot of time they are asking if I have uci number. The below link suggests many ways to go for medical depending on my visa category http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp. The first bullet point is 1) Instructions issued by CIC:You will be instructed to go for a medical exam within 30 days of receiving the notice.
I just want to make sure that I do not have to wait for anything right? I can straight away go for upfront and then submit the form?
Thanks so much for the help.

Regards
Riya

Yes, just tell them it's an upfront medical exam for Express Entry. There should be no need to supply anything, perhaps they are still familiar with the old process with the medical request.

I believe one does not need a UCI # for an "UPFRONT" e-medical (EE - FSW - Outland). I would suggest you call the physician's office with whom you made an appt. and confirm that they do use the e-medical system. When i made my appt., i did not have to provide any UCI #.

Once the exam is complete, they will send the results to CIC directly and they give you an "Information Sheet / Confirmation Sheet" at the end of the test. This sheet should have an IME # on it, which you will need. I believe this information sheet is what we would need to upload to MyCIC as a proof document before submitting our application.

Thank you very much. You are right. I called them back and they clarified that IME # is what I will need and they do support electronic system.
