Hello Everyone,

I have received ITA for Express Entry on 13th Jan, 2016, but my concern is my passport gets expired in August 2016.
I have already done my medical and PCC with this passport.

Also, do we need to apply for Canadian PCC(Criminal Record) ?
Please advise.

Apply with current passport, then renew your passport and send cic the updated passport copies via cse.

I had to do the same thing

You do not have to submit the pcc for Canada. Cic will let you know if you need to after you apply. Typically cic give 30 days for that which are more than enough.

My passport expires in 2018.
Is there a need to do something right now?

Apply with the current passport. For your application, attach a letter of explanation that explains to CIC that you are applying for a passport renewal, and that you will send them the renewed one as soon as you have it.

@Andy.cic:
Do you have a format for this letter ?
Please advise. :)

One of my friend got ITA along with me and he has issued his PCC(India) last month, but the issue is that he is going to India for next 3 weeks, do he need to re-apply for PCC - India, once he arrives back to Canada ? or the current PCC(India) would work ?

PS: On CIC website, it says "For countries where you have lived for six months or more, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country."

Your advise is appreciated.
Thank you.

New PCC is definitely required. I think I recently read in this forum that a person was rejected by CIC because he traveled to India after his PCC was issued and CIC didn't accept that PCC.

Either postpone the India trip or get a new PCC once back to Canada - don't take chances

I didn't had to write any letter. Just submit your profile using current passport. After submission go to bls or Indian consulate (if you are in Canada ) and apply for new passport. I got mine within 3-4 weeks. When you get your new passport, submit a cse (case specific enquiry) explaining in 2 lines that you have got your new passport (along with scan copies of front and last pages). After that you will get an email within 2 weeks from cic that your passport info in your ee profile has been updated.

As for the PCC, I agree with digitaldestiny that your friend should delay his trip till his application is approved.
I had to cancel mine last month because of this. Better to be safer than sorry.

Good luck.

Regarding PCC, is it okay if he bring the new PCC along with him on the last day of stay in India, instead of applying from here(Canada)?
Please advise and Thank you for all your help.

Best option is to obtain it from the Indian Embassy in Canada after completing the India visit.

Hello, would anyone know how to do cse? My application is in progress, and ive just recently paid for rprf. The passport i used to apply initially is expiring nov 2016, but i already have the new one.

Many thanks!

Hi,

I hope all is well.

I am in the same boat now... How did you renew your passport via cse?
