Hi everyone!
My mother is visiting me and my sister for the first time. My sister is on a work permit and I am an int student.
She arrived in April, 2022 for 6 months and we filed for an extention in September for another 6 months, until April15, 2023.
The processing time was very long, and in hopes for a positive result, we booked her a flight back to home for April 12, 2023.
However, recently we received a decision. We received a request for medical examination that is to be submitted within 30 days along with a letter "In Canada Approval Letter" which says that our extension request has been accepted. However, the validity of the new visitor record is just 1 more month, i.e. valid till January 22, 2023.

Does this mean that IRCC didn't give us the full extension? Are there any options for my mother to stay for 3 more months?
We have something big coming in the family and we'd want her to be with us.

Can we cotact IRCC to ask about the validity of the extension? Should we file another extension (would that leave a negative impact on my mother's visitor record since it is her first visit)?
TIA

She already did get an extension during the processing time and she stayed over 6 months. There is no such thing as a full extension. It is always at the discretion of the VO. When is the family event? If only granted another month it is a clear indication that IRCC feels that she has spent enough time in Canada. A second attempt at an extension when you have been granted 30 days to leave may not go over well with IRCC. The second extension request may also be processed much faster. Could she go home and return again? That also comes with risk since she should really be planning on reestablishing ties to her home country and spending 6+ months home before considering visiting Canada again.

Thank you for the answer. The event should be the first week of April.
If that's the case, I don't think we want to take any risks. She does have legit ties in India.
We'll rebook the flight asap.

But is it necessary to stay in home country for 6+ months before visiting back? I haven't read this anywhere until now. I also have seen people stepping out of Canada and returning shortly to renew their status. Is this not legit?
