Seems like you are the only one so far they asked about proof of funds? What did you bring for that? bank statement?

It's 4 years AFTER you get PR - any time spent in Canada (i.e. as a temporary foreign worker) doesnt count:

You must have been physically present in Canada as a permanent resident for at least 1,460 days during the six years immediately before the date of your application
When calculating time you have lived in Canada, you can only count time spent after you became a permanent resident of Canada.
6yrs?
I thought PR card is for 5yrs and 4/5yrs you re eligible to apply for citizenship ?
Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also when does the count begins? From the day of the landing or from the day you get your copr?

I think they changed the rules a while back. It. Now doesn't count the time you were in Canada before you got your permanent residency status.

Here is a link to a citizenship calculator.

I second that.

The count begin from the day of landing and getting PR status.

Guys,

Here is my landing experience. It was very smooth at Rainbow bridge Niagara.

I went on 25th July at 7.40 AM in the morning.
When I went to the US end, there was no one waiting as pedestrians except me.
The US officer asked my purpose, and before I could have said anything, he himself said "Flag Polling"?
I said yes and he completed my paper work in 2 mins with basic questions about my Nationality, occupation etc.

When I went to the Canada side, again I was the only one along with one CBSA officer. He directed me to a different officer who was not on duty and was supposed to arrive in 15 mins.
The next officer came after 10 mins and completed my paperwork in 5 mins.
He just asked for bank statements along with passport and copr.

That's it.

I advise everyone to go at very early hours to avoid any rush.

Hi,

Is it mandatory to have a POF (Proof funds) with you for the landing?
I'm CEC and indicated 0$ as my funds.
In the papers you receive back with the COPR is there a list of documents to bring with you for the landing?

I had the same thing. $0 for the pof, my immigration officer didn't ask for any pof, i do have a job though.

I took my recent pay stubs just in case they asked for pof.

Any of you guys, who are CEC was asked if you still work for the employer who gave you job offer?

Im cec, I wasn't asked about my current employment. I did take my job offer and employment documentation with me though. Also a pay stub, but they didn't ask for anything.

You should still have the offer of employment documents, just print those off and take them with you.

When are you planning on landing?

I landed recently at Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls. I felt more comfortable on foot for some reason so I parked my car and went to the Rainbow Bridge pedestrian side. The US officer asked what citizenship and what purpose I was here. I gave him my passport and told him that I'm flagpoling to land as Canadian PR. He took my info, told me to sit down and a minute later gave me a form he filled out that basically states, this person is intending to return to Canadian side for immigration purpose and isn't really here to enter the US or something.

I got back to the Canadian side and told the entry officer I was landing for PR. He asked if I was bringing in any goods, told me to go to another building and said he hoped I brought a book (I brought two!). In the other building I gave my passport with some papers that the entry officer gave to me and also the CoPR. I was asked for my address and I gave him my current work permit to show my address. They told me to wait till I got my name called.

It took about three hours to get my named called up. He asked me two questions, if I had been charged and if I had any dependents. Then he told me to initial in two places and for a signature. The CoPR was then stapled to my passport and he said that I didn't need my work permit anymore. I was told that the PR card will arrive in two to three months. He then told me to get a new SIN and also that I'm eligible for health insurance. He told me that I'm officially a PR and it is great!

I think it took awhile because I had to go at basically a very busy time (there were tons of people in Niagara Falls!) Anyway, that's how it went and I'm so very happy!

Hi Wizzy - thank you for answer. We are waiting for passports to come back and then we're flying for Mexico vacation and plan on landing on our way back - probably on Calgary Airport.
The thing with us is - my husband's employer is an abuser and have been harassing him for whole length of WP, so we wanna get him out of there asap - but they gave him job offer and right now we are on implied status, so the job was the essential thing during the EE application approval. So we are scared to show up on the border and getting rejected by immigration if they ask and find out he's left his job before leaving the country. We're planning on pretending that he's just going for vacation and doing landing formalities and will be coming back to work in case CBSA calls the employer, but it's really stressful because the employer doesnt even want to allow him to go to do the landing.

Wow sounds like a bad employer. When is your vacation? I believe you can get travel documents to cover you while your waiting for your PR card to come through. Depends when your vacation is but I would be inclined to get your status as soon as you receive your passports back from Ottawa. Then you can do what you want with the employer.

I don't think the CBSA will call your husbands employer.
