Hi All, Have received AOR in January 2017. My project is going to end in March 2017 and my manager is asking me to go back to India. I have a valid closed work permit till 2018 August.
Please suggest me what all are the options I have now.
Thanks.

Obviously you have two options, stay or leave.

Both options will be fine to obtain PR, just inform CIC of your new address if moving.

Your EE application could be done in 3-5 months most likely, if have not issues.

Could you request for more time in Canada to your employer? Maybe as non-paid leave or vacation? It will be the safer option

If you quit you can stay in Canada with your WP but unable to work for a while, until get PR. Most likely you'll obtain it but it's always a slimmchance to get problems with the application (and perhaps need to re-apply). So quiting is the lest safer option, but not too bad.

If you move abroad the PR process will continue, just the last step (sending passports) would be affected because you have to request to send it to a office in your country, but it's not a big deal.

Thank you so much for the reply.
I'm having some issues with medical as well. Doctors suspect that I may have TB as per my latest chest X-ray. Have given sputum test and waiting for the result. What happens to my MSI card if I quit the job and stay here in closed WP (Obviously not working anywhere), is it still valid till the expiry of the card?.
How about applying for Open work permit by explaining my condition? Do I need a letter from my current employer to prove that I have to leave country?
Thanks.

BOWP can be applied only if you have AOR and your existing WP is due to expire within 4 months. Having said that, you could still try to apply for BOWP explaining that your employer is relieving you from onsite duties and due to which you would need BOWP to stay and work. It may or may not work.

Check out this thread, it will help you.

MSI card is health card?
You should your Provincial regulation but it should be fine, at least in AB, the only concern is the WP expiration date

You do NOT have to leave the country, regardless of what your employer says - you can stay in Canada as long as your work permit is valid, and your health card will remain valid until expiry. You will be eligible to apply for the BOWP around May (four months prior to expiry) if your PR application is still in process.

Some people have succeeded in getting the BOWP earlier, but you can't count on that. If you want to try, you can write a Letter of explanation and provide some proof.

Thanks a lot. What is R10 completeness check?. Since my medical might take longer than expected, if I apply for BOWP, is there any impact on it? Should I wait till R10 completeness check pass before applying for BOWP?

R10 is security check, I thing.

You should apply BOWP as soon you can (typically 4 months prior WP expiration, so May 2018).

Your BOWP will be "on hold" until R10 is passed.

Anyways most likely you'll get PR decision before even apply to BOWP

Hi,
I have applied for the BOWP and the status changed to 'On-Hold'. Could anyone tell me what does this mean?
