Reasons of Visa refusal

I am new to this forum.I haven't applied for visa or University yet but as a matter of precaution before I apply for anything I would like to know few things:

1) I am in 7th semester (BE-Automobile) currently planning to apply for university.My CGPA is 6.93 ( 10th- 84% and 12th - 72%) but I had one backlog in 3rd semester which is cleared now.Can they refuse my visa solely on this basis.

2) I am looking to settle down in Canada.I have heard of some cases where a candidate is refused visa because he/she wants to settle down over there and some cases in which the Visa is refused because the candidate wants to leave Canada after the course is over.This is confusing.Can anybody please explain me why is that so.

3) I am doing BE in Automobile.So can I apply for Masters in a subject related to Mechanical engineering like Dynamics of Machine or such courses.I am asking this question because some of my friends have been rejected because their choice of course was not correct.

..If u clear with high CGPA then backlog will not matter, but u can explain it ur SOP.CGPA 6.93 from ?
..You have to prove that u will leave Canada at the end of ur studies , if VO considers u will not leave the it will be a rejection ...The prove for return is hometies...
..If ur proposed study is a logical extension of ur knowledge and at a higher level then u will not have any problem...

I had a backlog in Maths-3 and My CGPA is out of 10.

Also I would like to ask that I have heard from several others that Canadian government gives work permit to international students if you do your masters there.Is it true?
I really need to settle in canada.I have some family ties over there.Will it be possible for me to get a permanent visa after i complete my studies?

For a degree less than two years u will get PGWP equal to the duration of study, for a two year or more study course u will get three year PGWP. During ur post graduate work permit u can apply for PR.PR rules varies from province to province , please check their official website...

I am targeting universities like Ryerson and York.With my profile,What are the chances of getting into this universities for MS.Also I would like to know that will I have to submit marksheet of each and every semester to the university or Just the final marksheet which i will get after completion of my degree in which there is the average CGPA of all semesters.

Also, The University I study in right now awards the degree certificate and class i.e. First calss/Distinction on the basis of the performance of last 4 semester i.e. 2 years.So, will the canadian university,to which I apply to, consider the CGPA of all my 8 semesters or just last 4 semesters.

Your profile is good , try to submit complete mark sheets , it will help them to evaluate ur case in more detail...Also include ur final degree...
