Hi all

I have applied for PG DIPLOMA for fall intake and it was rejected yesterday. The reason for rejection of my application is OTHERS. My friends suggesting me to apply again under general category but I want to know exact reason for this refusal before applying again as just OTHER as a reason is hard to understand and I don't know what changes I have to make in my application this time.

Brief for Academics:
10th CBSE 82% {2006}
12th CBSE 74%(PCM){2008}
Bachelors in hotel management 71%(IHM) Central government college{2008-11}
ILETS 7 overall

After finishing my college I have worked for 2.6 year in India and then I went to US for 1 year and after coming back I'm working in India for last 1 year.

PG course which I opt for is completely relevant to my previous studies and my experience in Hospitality which has been clearly mentioned in my SOP.

I really appreciate any help for further course of action!!

Sorry to hear that.

I guess you can order for gcms notes to know more details. Below is the link :
https://gcmsnotes.ca/

How much did you show for proof of funds? Any sponsors?

You say you were in the US for 1 year, so did you submit a clearance certificate from the FBI?

Isn't one supposed to submit police certificates from all countries they've lived in for more than 6 months?

Thanks for the link Gymguy... I have paid GIC FOR 10200CAD and 1semester fee.

No worries. Is it a 2 semester course? But still you might have shown someone/yourself
as sponsor by declaring your annual income? How much was it?

Yes, Harvijay, A very valid point you raised here.

Harvijay1001 I have no clue for this FBI Thing....

Gymguy it's a 3 semester course(1 year) I have shown my fathers income which is around 6 lac p.a and I took a loan for whole course which is around 38000 CAD.

Then I reckon FBI clearance is the culprit, but still order for gcms notes to get to the root and make your case strong for next time.

Are you sure there was no other reason mentioned on your refusal letter/e-mail?

OTHERS is generally explained with some statements, if I'm not wrong.

Either way considering you don't even have a clue about it, I would suggest this:

1. Fire your consultant and sue them if you have one.
2. Read this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp
3. FBI clearance certificate takes 12-14 weeks to come through so apply for it right now
4. apply for GCMS/CAIPS notes. If you don't know what this is, read about it. Plenty of information on this forum. They take 4-5 weeks and will confirm for you if missing FBI clearance was the reason for refusal
5. Defer admit and apply for visa again

The thing is this gcms notes will take around 1 month as per the link...so if I'll request for gcms tomo it will come somewhere around August 20 but my classes are starting from 6th September.

After reading Harvijay's comment, I guess there's no way you can make it for Sep. Good Luck anyways.

Not a problem at all. I hope the missing FBI clearance is the only reason for rejection, meaning there was nothing wrong with your profile. Hopefully!

Good luck with re-application
