Hi,

Currently here in canada on a tourist visa that expires on April 27th
I am going to apply for the Internatinal experience canada programme, I am a uk resident.

Chances are my tours at visa may expire whilst the application is being processed or I may need to extend the visa before they release the applications dates as my tourist visa won't allow me enough time to either wait out an answers

Would a reason for extending my tourist visa be ok if I stated my in tension of staying as applying for the IEC?
My thinking is i would use that as a reason one my application for the IEC is in however if I apply for the extension prior to the application should I state something otherwise? I do intend on traveling so would that be enough?

Any thoughts would be great.

First of all you can't have a visitor visa as you are from a visa exempt country. You have a visitor status.

Now.... the reason is quite valid and can be used for filing for an extension of your visitor status. No problem with that. Remember that if you travel your visitor status will expire when you cross the border (other border than the US one). When you come back then you will have a new visitor status valid for up to the time the CBSA sees fit.

Honesty is the best policy so either the reason will be "to apply for a IEC" or to "wait for a IEC"... keep it honest.
