We just received the "Ready for Visa" email asking for my partners passport copy! So exciting!

I'm just curious as to when we can apply for my partner's work permit. We are applying outland so we couldn't apply for the open work permit at the same time as the family class sponsorship application.

I'm confused whether you even need a work permit or not. There is literally no link to apply for a work permit if you are a permanent resident or are applying to be one.

Thanks in advance!

No work permit needed with a PR card.

When your partner lands with the PR visa, he or she will become a PR. A PR does not need a work permit to get a job - they are treated like a Canadian citizen for work: they can apply for any job, except a few government jobs that require a high security clearance.
