I just found an email in my husband's email account that was never read! Dated March 7, 2012 - More than 4 months ago. It is from the embassy in Bogota requesting an updated police check and his passport! I hope sending it sooo late after the request doesn't have any negative consequences for us other than the obvious 4 month delay....im sooo mad we missed this, i just can't believe it! I've been waiting and waiting and it was there all along. Nothing about it noted in ecas or sent to me (sponsor) in terms of communication. From now on I'm checking his emails daily. I asked him to check but he said there was nothing there, just glad i had a gut feeling to ask him if I could go through his email to double check. Does anyone know if this is going to affect us negatively from here on ? Im freaking out!

Hey!

Sorry to hear that. I don't know if it will affect negatively, but well - there is not much to do about it now. Explain in the cover letter that you only found out now, and do it as soon as possible. Make sure that you put all the file information number etc so they can "dig" your file in case they thought you had abandoned it.

Good luck! these things happen, and you are probably not the first one, so they are probably used to it.
Cheers,
Sweden

Hiya,

I agree that the best thing to do is notify them immediately about what happened in a very apologetic letter (maybe state that it went into the junk folder rather than husband not checking email). I would also check ECAS for updates and email your VO with UCI (urgent).
Many requests have time limits attached, did your email have any such date?

Best of luck

+1. Send the note as a case specific enquiry and give them a sense of when you will deliver the police certificate to them. You just want them to see some movement on your file right now and get an extension in the file to turn the documents in.

You're lucky they left your file open .... you'll be fine now that you saw the e-mail and can get them what they need :)
