I am canadian PR. I got married last summer in Saudi Arabia. I live in Canada. I applied to sponsor my wife back in Sept/11. Mississauga CPC sent my application to Abu Dhabi office around the end of Dec/11. I asked them to process it in Cairo. She lives in Saudi but she is Palestinian from Gaza. That's why I asked to be processed in Cairo. She did her medical back in Jun/11. I am not sure when should we be expecting the visa. Are we going to need to do another medical in case our application will be still in process after June/12. anyone with any info which can help, please advise!
Thanks for your help in advance.

If PR application processing is not completed before June/12, your wife will have to do a remedical. The visa office will let you know about this.

Thank very much Amy for the reply. We just received an email from the embassy with a questioner and some required document. We have to send them these documents within 45 days. Does this mean that the application will processed before June?

I don't know what type of document they are asking for. It seems if everything is alright they will ask for your passport next. Don't worry inshallah you will be done before june. All the best.

Thank you again. Another question please. One of the documents they are asking is my original exit and re-entry visas from 2008 until present. They can be requeste from the Saudi immigration authorities. I am not sure why they are asking for them. My family lives there. We have a temporary status in Saudi Arabia. But I don't live there. My father contacted the immigration office over there. They refused to give him since it's a security issue. They mentioned to him the Canadian embassy in Abu dhabi can contact them through the Saudi ministry of forigen affairs and request such thing. Not sure what to do or say to the embassy.
Please let me know if you have any idea.

Thank you very much.

The point is not whether the Canadian embassy can request the documents from the Saudi authorities. They have asked YOU to provide them with these documents, so YOU need to find out what you need to do to get them, and submit them to the embassy within the required timeframe.

They may be asking you for these documents to confirm that you are a sponsor within the meaning of the regulations. That is, are you actually resident in Canada and therefore eligible to be a sponsor.

I suggest you do what you need to in order to provide the embassy with the documents they have requested, that would be my idea.

yeah Charlie is right i think they need to see that u actually reside in Ca (the PR's have to reside in Ca during the sponsorship process)...but this is actually a very common document to be asked by Abu-Dhabi, they ask even from Canadian citizens....just try ur best to get it and document ur tryings; if at the end it was not successful at least u have proof to show them that u tried...by the way Saudi is a big country, maybe they r more strict in one city and refuse to help but more relaxed in another....at the end the document will b the same no matter from which city/authority u get it....keep trying, it has to be a way!!! (also i think they would not ask for smthg they know people cannot get; in other words it means other applicants were successful in submitting this document before)

also the processing times for abu-dhabi is currently 25 months and i did read abt one case who was still waiting after 39 months!!!!!! :o :o :o ??? :-X :-\

I am trying my best to get them. But I am not sure if you Saudi Arabia immigration authorities. It's almost impossible to change something. If they don't allow something then it won't work out. They gave me a solution. They want the embassy to ask for what they need directly. It's a matter of a person's security.

They even want everything before April 5th, 2012. I might run out of time. I have to send other documents from Canada as well, which means it will need time to get to UAE.

that's actually ok...u can ask for an extension, explaining that some documents u don't have them yet and it takes longer to get....usually they give and it could b 30 days, 45, depends from case to case

try to get that in writing....but also did u show them the request letter or email from the embassy...it's clear it's the Canadian embassy and ur name and u need that paper, isn't still not enough for them?? :-\

Even if I show them the request letter, they won't go by it. I need an official request document from the embassy directed to them. They wouldn't even give me something in writing refusing my request. Deal with Saudi Immigration is one of a kind.
