I recently got my PR visa under FSWP 2014. My wife and I will land next year in February in Canada.

Does anybody know what happens if for example my wife fails to fulfill her permanent residence obligation in Canada but I do fulfill it?

I will have 3 years from next February to move to Canada so technically I can move to Canada in Feb 2019. And I am planning to move to Canada in Feb 2019 due to personal reasons. I will spend 6 months there to look for a job and see how life is in Canada. After 6 months, if I have found a job or liked Canada, she would move to Canada. But by then she would have failed to comply with residency obligation of minimum 2 years in Canada out of 5! But I would have met the PR obligations and I would be living in Canada!

In this scenario, how can my wife get her PR back? I know it's tricky question but that's what it really is ;) :D

Thanks!

This is an excellent question, one to which I also seek an answer. Will hope someone truly knowledgeable will respond. But based on what I've read, PR doesnt just go away at the end of fifth year and can be extended. What I've read is that without the residency requirement citizenship cannot be granted. Additionally, once both have "landed", I do not think they discriminate as to who was the "primary" and whether or not the "primary" has maintained status (example, what if a couple were to divorce? Would that invalidate the PR of the "secondary"? Don't think so).

That all said, best to wait for a response from someone who actually knows about this specific scenario that you've posed.

Most likely they have issued you a visa. I think your best option is to land in Canada before due date. But I'm not sure so do get proper advice. You can just visit for a week and return too!

Thanks a lot Jaxon for your positive reply. +1 to you. :)

Hi Seniors,

Plz advise.

I have received 3rd line update on 1st April 2015. My company is asking me to fly to Amsterdam for a long term project by this month end. I also have registered for CIIP sessions which are supposed to take place in 5-8 May.

1. In case I land up in Amsterdam, can I do the final Visa/PR stamping in Amsterdam? I understand this would end up delaying my PR process by a couple of months.

2. Also, what if there are further documents asked of me? How can I manage that.

3. Or it would be better for me to let this opportunity go and wait for PPR being here in India only.

Please suggest.

Regards,

1. In case I land up in Amsterdam, can I do the final Visa/PR stamping in Amsterdam? I understand this would end up delaying my PR process by a couple of months.the responsible CVO for Netherlands is Vienna, Austria

2. Also, what if there are further documents asked of me? How can I manage that. visa scan, stamp at port of entry scan, generic letter mentioning the address change and scope of the business mission abroad

3. Or it would be better for me to let this opportunity go and wait for PPR being here in India only. That's your call. You will get visa anyway, it's just a matter of extra paper work and delays

Please suggest.

I have been a silent viewer in this forum for around a year now and I am a July 4 2014 Applicant and received PER November 17 2014. No MR or 2nd line update yet, still waiting

I would like to say many thanks to all those who have been helpful providing guidance and tips to others and to myself in this immigration process. It is very much appreciated and has been helpful in what other people have experienced.

Good luck to those who have landed already, those who will be landing sometime soon, and those like myself who are still waiting :)

What's your Visa Office?..I hope your file progress is as per VO Trends...
