We started processing your application on March 24, 2015.

what does this mean?

background checks are remainnig or i should wait for the MR?

It means that they are happy with your documentation provided and have given a green signal for further processing .You are now placed in medical request queue.
Expect to get MR in 30-45 days max . Stay calm and prepare for medicals phase

I RECKON NDVO GOT INUNDATED WITH APPLICATIONS FILED DURING JULY. THAT'S WHY IT IS TAKING A BIT LONG. ANY WAYS THEY ARE DOING THEIR JOB EXCELLLENTLY.

Any guess why NVDO has a backlog for July applicants ? some applicants do not even have international travel history.
When is this wait likely to get over.

Just a quick info. Primary applicant can submit passport of spouse at VFS without the physical presence of spouse.... Sharing this as I had question about this and could not find answer till today..

No...
I had troubled my spouse to accompany me as I do not know the process. When enquired at the counter while submitting pp, the vfs personnel said that I could have submitted her passport. he did not mention abt any authorization letter requirement... Hope this helps..
