[size=10pt]Hi...
Need some guidance...

Applied from US and current status is Medicals Received on March 17. No DM or PPR yet.
Can we expect the passport returned with appropriate stamping by May end?

We might need to travel outside US early June.

What do you all experienced folks think?
[/size]
Don't count on it. The time from 3rd line update to PPR varies, but for many of us it was over 4 months. Even if it's quick for you, it still takes time for them to send back your passports and it's unpredictable.

When you say you need to travel outside the US, do you mean for a short time such as a few weeks? If yes then if you get PPR before you leave and the deadline for submission is after you will return, just don't submit until after you return (I did this because I had to travel a couple days after getting PPR). If you will hit the deadline, explain the situation to the VO and ask for an extension of the deadline. They're usually good about that.

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum, i couldn't find out where i should post this question, so I commented like this.

I applied on 24th August 2014 and my first line status states that they received application on 29th August 2014. Then my second line status states that they started processing on 25th February 2015. But after that there is no new updates or even medical request.

I understood from this forum that, medical request will send with the second line updates. If i correct, then what will be the issue.. could u please anyone help me to sort this out.

Thank you everyone.
Not necessarily. It depends on the application and the VO and the officer handling your case. Keep checking your e-mail and your junk folder, but don't worry just because you have to wait. Waiting is an unfortunate part of this process for everyone.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!

Toronto is marked as destination on my visa. Is it mandatory for me to land in toronto?

Secondly, is it mandatory to carry CAD 11824 or more, not less, at the time of landing? Would it be fine if i carry lesser amount like CAD 5000?

Regards,
Gaurav
You can land anywhere except Quebec.

You need to bring proof of funds, not necessarily the funds themselves. If you bring CAD$10K or more you must declare it.

Hello All - Just want to share my experience after PPR email.

On March 31, 2015 I received the much coveted PPR email but to my dismay they wanted me to submit my passport to NDVO within 30 days. I had already booked my tickets to travel to India on May 3, reaching on May 5. So I emailed NDVO and asked if I could get the stamping done in New York but did not get any response for a week.

Then on April 7, I emailed NYVO and asked them if I could stamp the visa in NY and they responded within 3 HOURS!!!!! However, they told me that they got approval from NDVO to stamp the visa in NY but the average time to stamp and send passport back is 30 days and this could interfere with my travel plans to India. They told me that I have the option to submit it in NY or to submit it to NDVO after I reach India. Since my travel dates are not flexible I asked to submit the passport in India after I reach on May 5. However next day (April 9) I got a new PPR from NDVO to submit Passport within 30 days.

So now I have to submit the passport once I reach India on May 5th. I plan to travel to Bangalore same day and submit on May 5th or May 6th to VFS center in Bangalore.

Only thing I'm not sure about is if I can fly back to my home town if I don't have a passport as valid photo ID? Will the airport authorities allow me to fly using photocopy of my passport and valid USA driver's license. Any thoughts??
Are you asking whether you can fly within India? I'm not sure about that. If you are asking whether you can fly back to the USA without a passport, definitely not.

Proof of 'Landing' Funds:
-Do we take the Bank Statement or otherwise ?

How Much needed to Show at the Airport/POE :
No. of Pax ........... Funds Reqd-CAD
1 ....................... $11,086
2 ....................... $13,801
3 ....................... $16,967
4 ....................... $20,599
5 ....................... $23,364
6 ....................... $26,350
7 or more ........... $29,337

Is it necessary to carry the P.O.F. while 'Landing' ?
100%. A part of the 'Record of Landing' "Interview" is to ensure 'sustainability' in Canada by the applicant. The IO must ensure that you carry enough funds [based on LICO] which will help you settle easily, w/out any burden on Canadian Social Services. Remember, except for 'refugees' under the Refugees Protection Act, Canada doesn't offer financial assistance for any other categories of applicants.

Irrespective of the no. of family members performing the 1st landing, the entire POF [as per the chart above] must be shown to the IO at the POE. Subsequent 'landings' by the 'accompanying dependents' do not need to show the POF.

That means, whether the PA alone or one or more of his family members are 'landing' for the 1st time, the above funds are required. It's another matter whether the IO at the POE doesn't ask for it [very often that happens]. But, w/out the POF our entry can be 'Denied'.

Bank Statement/s as POF:
This issue has been dealt in detail [recurs frequently] here. The fact remains that we will actually need those monies once we land. Under avg, & usual circumstances -the POF described by the CIC is a necessity to survive in Canada, w/out a job, for approx. 6 months. Thus, in all earnestness we 'must' carry the 'landing funds' in a 'liquid' format* -easily accessible anytime upon landing.

Now, not all Bank Statements would be acceptable for 'landing'. There are instances when a Bank Statement was negated and the applicant was denied entry. I learnt it from the various forums & listening to the experiences of some families in Canada. Most 3rd world bank's statements will not be acceptable. Some examples were given, but I refrain to put-it-up here.

However, the statement/s of banks from UK, US, Norway, ANZ etc. were accepted in quite a few cases [I know of one personally]. Also, statement/s of International Banks [having a presence in Canada] were acceptable, viz. HSBC, Stanchart, RBC etc. But again, one case stated that their Citibank Statement was not accepted.

Now, here's a dichotomy. Our landing is supposed to be one of the most beautiful experiences of our lifetime. We have given our entirety to this process, didn't we? Something we had been looking forward to -for quite sometime now. What if a particular IO refuses to accept our bank statement?

Well, we have learnt that many of the bank's statement they do accept, but what if? And then, would we be running around towards all the possible hierarchy in the CBSA at the POE for a solution -which might come by, for sure? But won't that mar the thrills of our 'long-awaited-anticipated' first-foot into the Canadian soil? Do we take that chance? Is it that important to carry the bank statement than expect to come-out of the airport, with the family & kids, in 30-45 minutes, smoothly?

*I recommend carrying them in 1)Some Cash, 2)TCs & 3)a Bank Draft [it takes about 30+ days to encash that]. -all the 3 formats [only], No Bank Statement/s.

Note: Also to reiterate that all Immigration Consultants will tell you to carry 'only' one or more of the 3 above. They wouldn't advice you to take a bank statement, why? -Check-it out with some of them.

I hope that helped...

Hi,

I am expecting Medical Request (MR) in couple of weeks and my initial visa office – NDVO (India) transferred to Warsaw VO. Currently I am in Canada on work visa. I will be completing my Medical test in Canada. For Passport visa stamping, I want to request in Canada itself. But as per my application VO (NDVO) – passport request will go to NDVO. How can I request Warsaw VO to change passport Visa stamping to Canada? Also at what stage I can request. Along with Medical Request + PCC + RPRF documents or thru Case specific Request??

Thanks.

In your PPR request they give you options for getting in stamped at other visa offices too if you are not physically present in north america

FYI : I have posted my PPR request mail for your reference .
STEP 2: PASSPORT(S) REQUEST

We require a VALID passport for you and for each accompanying family member. Passports for you and all accompanying family members must be submitted together. There must be at least one blank visa page in each passport. If there are children included in your passport there must be blank visa pages for them as well.

Please note that permanent resident visas cannot be issued to holders of Diplomatic, Official or Military passports. You must obtain an ordinary passport.

If you or any of your family members are residing outside North America and you are unable to send your/their passport(s) to Canada and/or to provide a return mailing address in North America, contact us at CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca so that we can make arrangements to print visas at another office.
