Pretty much, yes.
you must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family after you get to Canada.

Number of
Family Members Funds Required
(in Canadian dollars)
1 $12,164
2 $15,143
3 $18,617
4 $22,603
5 $25,636
6 $28,913
7 or more $32,191
You do not have to show that you have these funds if:

you have a valid offer of arranged employment in Canada AND you are currently working or authorized to work in Canada.

is there anyone else in this forum who
have received MR and
whose Medical Received Line got updated

but still
he has
NO RPRF,
NO PCC REQUEST,
NO SCHEDULE-A Update Request

And after that no reply to three CSEs, send with an interval of around 10-days. What could be the reason?

is there anyone with similar case as mine? With Medical Done and No RPRF, No PCC, No Schedule-A Update etc. Nothing at all after that.

According to the CIC website the current wait time is 39 days. I'm not sure how accurate that is as I have seen some posts of people saying it took longer. Maybe they have caught up and are processing within 39 days now. I'm not sure.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp

It may be important for you to stay depending on whether or not you are coming from a country that is visa exempt and what your method of travel will be. If you are from a non-visa exempt country you only have the visa valid for your landing. If you leave the country without your PR card you will have to apply for and get a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) in order to enter back into Canada. Also, even if you are from a visa-exempt country (such as the USA) you will need a PRTD if you plan to return to Canada by commercial means (airplane, boat, train or bus). If you were driving from the US to Canada in your own personal vehicle, you could cross back into Canada without the need of a PRTD.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/travel-document/index.asp

There is no minimum amount of time you stay after you land. Many people turn right around and head right back out of the country. Just keep in mind that you may need a PRTD to return, depending on your circumstances. Also, you need to keep in mind that in order to retain your newly acquired permanent resident status you will need to be in Canada for a minimum amount of time.

"When you are a permanent resident, you can live outside of Canada, but must live in Canada for at least two years in a five-year period. If you live outside of Canada for longer, you may lose your permanent resident status."

"Minimum residency obligations

You must meet the residency obligation to obtain a Permanent Resident Card.

If you have been a permanent resident for five (5) years or more
•you must have been physically present in Canada for a minimum of 730 days within the past five (5) years.

If you have been a permanent resident for less than five (5) years
•you must show that you will be able to meet the minimum of 730 days of physical presence in Canada within five (5) years of the date you became a permanent resident. "

For more info on that see here:

I really appreciated for the detailed answer. Actually! I am at a stage where I have to take the step to get PR but due to some reasons it would not be possible to stay for the longer time while waiting for the PR card to be issued. So, I want any live example in which there hasn't any issue, in leaving Canada without getting PR. So, please share if anyone cameacross with such situation.

Hi

Got mail from CPC-Ottawa requesting Photos and passport for all members
I have added child on my PR few weeks back
There was no medicals request for my child (Born in US and 13 month old)
However i have sent spouse and my CoPR and passport for visa cancellation last week.

Is this normal?
Since they requested to send all documents in single packet, how should i proceed

Sid

You can do it. I've seen many post that they do it. You just have to plan ahead. Are you from a non-exempt country? All you have to do is apply for the PRTD and you can come back in without any issues later. I have also seen people use the address of a friend who is already in Canada to receive their PR card and they have it sent to them. It is of course not without risk, but I've seen some people post that they have successfully done just that.
