Can anyone post the basic goods required to carry when we relocate to Canada. Do we have to take photographs of the jewels worn by us or the jewels we carry in the baggage.

Dear Senior Members,

I received my PER on January 25 2015, till this date only two lines appearing on my status;

We received your application for permanent residence on October 27, 2014.
We started processing your application on January 14, 2015.

I am wondering how many lines do they update till the end, can someone name them please stage by stage wise.

And how often we should go for CSE, it has been two and half months since I raised the query.

Many thanks in advance.
Depends on the VO to Vo. It would be easier to tel if ur time line is updated and we know ur VO.

If you get MR it can reach up to 4/5/6 lines.

Usually it is up to 9/10 lines recently if u can reach till Visa in ur passport.

For PF/Doc request, line number varies. And Line number jumps from 2 to 4 (PER to AOR), 4 to 6/7 (Doc Req to MR given and report received), 6/7 to 9/10 line (PPR to Visa/rejection)in a single day.

CSE is to explain and inform any important update for address change (office/home), email/phone(i.e. official,home/personal)/job/organisation change. If you are waiting for a LONG time after AOR (i.e. 10months to 1 year), u may ask status of the application to VO by CSE. BEtter to raise GCMS to check you application status.

There is a chance of getting delayed for unnecessary CSE for keep updating random things and/or using multiple communication channel (i.e submitting same doc by scanned in CSE and by postal mail) to VO. HowevEr, GCMS report asking do not delay the process since it is managed/generated by CIC not VO. Please google search if u r unsure what is GCMS and how to do it.

I hope it explains. Thanks

Query!

On sending PASSPORTS for stamping of PR Visa, does a valid Canadian Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) get cancelled?
My valid TRV is on my old passport, would I need to give BOTH passports (IF they need to cancel the TRV)
Yes you should. Esp if you have previous travel history.

It is always ideal to keep both (old/new) passports attached always- may be by staple. It never harms and reflects that you are transparent. It even adds value in giving visa if u have travel history in global important places (I.e. USA/ Canada/ EU etc.) generally in case of eligibility. Though FSW case is separate as they are already asking for PPR doing due diligence.

PR prevails upon TRV.
If you are given certification to swim in the sea (PR), should u be concern about ur ability to swim in the pond (TRV) ? ;)

I hope it helps. Thanks

Thank you for your response, VO had asked for scanned copies of passports with MR, and they specifically mentioned that the scans must be of the passport I intend to use to enter Canada. My TRV is on my old passport and is not the passport I shall use to enter canada, hence sent scanned copies of only the New passport.

My concern was, does TRV get cancelled, because if it does then I may need to send my old passport along with new passport for stamping, since CIC already knows about my past travel history to Canada, and if i do not provide them with older passport for Cancellation of TRV (if it is required by them to cancel) then it may be a cause of concern for them. I do understand PR visa is over and above a humble TRV :D

Thank you slam.dunk ... now when the VO asked for scanned copies of passport (if they did), did you send them scanned copies of old passport along with the new passport scans? or just the new passport scanned pages?

Please don't staple your passports. Apart from the possibility of damaging the chip if you don't know where it is, some immigration officers claim the machine can pick up the expiry date of the old passport sometimes, which means they will have to type in the new date. I used rubber band for mine and was made to separate them at every immigration stop in 2 diff countries during a recent trip so avoid staples.

Thank you, great suggestion, even though my passports have always been stapled, i need to concentrate on what the Canadian authorities require!

Canadian government (CBSA) staples Study/Work permit to the passport, so that's not an issue to them.
