Re-entry to Canada from US without US visa

A family friend will be visiting us in Canada for two months. In case she gets a stamp at airport limiting her stay to one month, she will need to either (1) extend her stay, (2) re-enter to Canada via US. I was told that I could drive her to the US make a U-turn and bring back to Canada, and she will get another stamp on her passport at Canadian border. Does anyone had similar experience. Would the US really let her go through the US border without having the US visa? Thank you!

Sure - she can do that - but there's no guarantee she will be allowed back into Canada and given an additional stay. This is a pretty risky thing to try. Better to apply to extend her visit from within Canada before her first visit expires.

One-month limit is rare, she should get a 6-month. Like scylla is a better option. When at the US border, she will not "enter", she will be returned.

I would echo on what Scylla said. It is too risky, if they give one month it is to make sure she only stays a month, wouldn't make sense to let her flagpole in order to bypass or "play it smart" that restriction.

All, thank you for your contributions! We will go with the extension in case she is stamped for a month.
