Re-entry as a Worker without a Job!

Hello Everyone!

My husband has a closed work permit, but chances are that we have to leave the country (and unfortunately the JOB) and return after 2 months (maximum).

I called immigration today and they said (by phone and e-mail) that if I have a valid passport and valid work permit (which is the case), I would not experience any problem... ALTHOUGH, the officer will be the one deciding this.

I'll get my PR this year, but I don't know when... :(

I want to know if anyone else had experienced the same thing and can tell me something. I'm worried about the officer questions and stuff!

Thanks!

Is he able to take vacation or leave of absence for the 2 months? This way, he is not quitting his job per se, just taking some time off? It is a tricky situation because: a closed work permit may allow entry but you can not work for any other employer. If you no longer work for the employer listed on the permit, the question becomes whether or not you have reason to be in Canada? A border officer may very well you do not and deny you entry. You may want to seek legal advice before to explore options before leaving Canada.
