Hi guys,

I am an Indian Passport holder with COPR and will make my first landing in Canada from India in few months from now. From there I plan to go to US via flight for a couple of weeks and then come back to Canada, and board my flight back to India. Wanted to check if i can re-enter canada from US using COPR since i would have already made my exit from Canada once .

Regards
Apneet

You can only enter with a COPR via the US/Canada land border you cannot use the COPR to fly back to Canada once you have already landed as a PR you would need either a PR card or PRTD.

The previous responses are accurate. Just to add to them and given the fact that you are an Indian citizen, the COPR document is not a travel document but the single entry Immigrant Visa in your passport is.
Once you enter (to ‘land’ as a PR), it will be scratched out and valid no more.
The difference is that if you enter via a land border, IRCC may let you enter Canada as there is no intermediate ‘commercial’ carrier (read airline) involved.
However, if you try boarding a flight from the US with only your COPR, the airline will outright deny you boardingfor two reasons. Like I said before, the first is that a COPR is not a valid travel document. Second, if you are refused entry into Canada for any reason (inadmissibility reasons or such), then the airline is held responsible and would have to send you back to the country of origin at their expense. FYI, they won’t even let you board if you hold a PR card which has expired.
Under the circumstances, the only way for you to re-enter Canada is to apply for a PR Travel document (PRTD). It takes a week or two weeks to obtain and can only be applied for outside Canada. So plan your travel dates well.

Thanks a lot guys. got your point.

i have one more query. Given the above circumstances, i have decided to land in canada first and then fly to US for a week, and then fly back to india from US. I have B1 B2 Visa issued from India. Hope there will be no issue entering USA from canada through air or land with US tourist visa?

That's got nothing to do with Canada. If you have a valid US visa, the US doesn't care where you're flying from, they (US Immigration) will treat you like any normal tourist.
