I did my medical January 09, 2009. I'll be mailing my application out in August, which leaves only 5 months until it expires. Don't they normally request you re-do your medical exam a month prior to it expiring? I am applying Outland through Buffalo. I know there's a chance the application could be done in 4 months, but then that only gives me a month to deal with the passport request and landing.

Should I re-do the medical before they ask? Does that help any? Can I go to a different doctor? I'd hate to re-do the medical, but I'm not so sure I have a choice, and I don't want to delay my application.

I am not sure about this, but I thought that I read on another topic (although I could not tell you which one), that if you have to re-do the medical, you are given a different form from the Appendix C form to bring to the dr.

Maybe it would set your mind at ease to book an appointment with the DMP for sometime in the month before your medicals expire, and hope that you have received the appropriate paperwork by then? That way, you won't have the delay of waiting to get an appointment. Or maybe call the medical practitioner's office - maybe they keep those forms in stock for people who forget them and you can do yours with that other form before the yask for it??

When my husband's medicals were expiring, the Embassy told us to wait for them to provide us with instructions to get the medicals done again and at that time they would provide the documentation that would be required by the doctor. My husband's medicals expired and they only requested that they be re-done once his file was completed.

Thank you for the advice! I will wait for CIC to let me know. I would book the appointment, but the doctor I went to last time is a walk-in-only. Though this time I would want to go to a different doctor since he charges a lot more now. I hope I have the same luck you do then, GuateCanadian about having to do them once my application's completed. I was hoping to land by the end of this year, but we'll see!
