Hello experts,

Subject - Urgent Advice needed!

I need advice regarding my passport renewal. I am currently residing in BC, Canada and nationality is Indian (status-worker). AOR Date is August, 2016. My passport is expiring in July, 2017 and have received letter from CIC stating that 'your passport is expiring within next 12 months, to minimize delays please remember to provide us with a scanned copy when you have renewed your passport'.

I called BLS-India and realized that processing time for renewals are 6 weeks (which may be too late). Am I eligible for Tatkal services as it is a matters of emergency? If yes, what is the process of applying through it. Their processing time is 1 to 3 business days. I tried calling them but no answer. Do I have to visit nearest passport center to enquire about it? Please let me know.

Are you sure they take six weeks to renew passport? Last few years my experience is it has been very very quick! I got my renewed passport in Dec of 2015 in India within three days and my spouse applied in New York and got new passport within 8 days. Call up the Indian consulate in Canada and not BLS. The one in USA was very responsive during spouse's application even clearing many doubts we had that time. They will probably be able to answer your questions regarding tatkal eligibility as well.
Do check with someone who has applied in Canada also. Just sharing my experience. Hope it helps.

Anyone recently received GCMS notes within 30 calendar days?
I applied one on Oct 30 and haven't received it yet..

I got it in exactly 30 days. Applied on Sept 21 got it on Oct. 21.
However, average is 40 days as informed to me by gcmsnow.com - the service I used to apply.

My timeline is as follows (Family of 4 with 2 children):

AOR: Aug 26, 2016
MED PASSED: Sept 16, 2016
BG CHECK (In Progress): Oct 6, 2016

RPRF paid upfront.......Waiting patiently for PPR.......
