RCMP police check?

I'm applying through express entry and I have several friends who have got police checks from Canada as part of their initial application as they have lived here for over six months. But the RCMP have told me I don't need one unless I'm requested to get one which includes finger prints? As immigration have access to the same info. Just wanted this clarified.

I have a similar question. By the time I submitted my application, I have stayed a total of 177 days in Canada. What are the chances that I receive ADR for RCMP police certificate? I am thinking about getting it done next week to save some time.
